The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) program is designed to support exceptional international students pursuing Master’s or PhD studies in Ireland. This initiative, funded by the Government of Ireland in collaboration with Irish higher education institutions and overseen by the Higher Education Authority, awards 60 scholarships annually for one year of full-time study at either the master’s or PhD level. The program is open to applicants across all academic disciplines.
Benefits
- A Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship includes a stipend of €10,000 for one year of full-time Master’s or PhD-level study.
- Additionally, awardees receive a full fee waiver from their host higher education institutions for the scholarship year. Successful scholars are expected to commence their studies in either September or October 2024.
Please note: Applicants from the Russian and Belarussian nationals are not eligible to apply
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship, applicants must have a domicile of origin outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland/United Kingdom.
- Candidates are required to apply for admission to a relevant Master’s or PhD program at an eligible higher education institution, following the institution’s admission procedures.
- Applicants must possess a conditional or final offer of admission to the higher education institution at the time of application.
- The offer letter must confirm that the student has been offered a place on a full-time program as an international fee-paying student.

Assessment Process
Applications will be initially reviewed by the relevant higher education institutions for eligibility and alignment with institutional objectives.
