The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program for 2024-2026 is an excellent opportunity for international students pursuing master’s degrees. This fully funded scholarship, jointly provided by the World Bank and the Japanese Government, covers tuition fees, accommodation, economy class air travel, and a monthly living stipend.

Scholarship Coverage:
- Economy class air travel between home country and the host university at the beginning and end of the study program. In addition to the two-way air travel, scholars will receive a $500 travel allowance for each trip.
- Tuition for the graduate program and the cost of basic medical insurance obtained through the university.
- Monthly subsistence allowance for living expenses (accommodations, food, etc., including books) while on campus. The amount of the allowance varies depending on the host country.
- Covers the duration of the graduate program or two years, whichever is less.
Exclusions:
The scholarship does not cover visa application costs, expenses for scholar’s family members, extra-curricular courses or training; language training not provided by the program, additional travel during the study program, research-related expenses, educational equipment, and resident permit fees.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Language: English
- Countries: Open to all countries
- Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country.
- Be in good health.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree earned at least 3 years prior to the application deadline.
- Have 3 years or more of recent development-related work experience.
- Be employed full-time in development-related work at the time of applying. The only exception to this criterion is for developing country nationals from a country that will be on the updated list of Fragile and Conflict States provided to applicants in the Application Guidelines for each call for scholarships.
- Must be admitted unconditionally (except for funding) to one of the JJ/WBGSP preferred university master’s programs located outside the applicant’s country of citizenship and residence the letter of admission must be uploaded before submitting your application.
- Must not be an Executive Director, and/or staff of any type of appointment of the World Bank Group or a close relative of the aforementioned by blood or adoption.
