Canon Student Development Program 2024 is currently receiving applications from aspiring photographers. The program is designed to provide aspiring photographers from across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa with a unique opportunity to meet industry experts, have their portfolios assessed, and gain valuable insights into the world of professional photography.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be 18 years or older as of 7th March 2024.
- Reside in Europe, Middle East or Africa region.
- Have either started or completed an education course or internship with an agency or magazine within the academic year 2023-2024, or be nominated/endorsed by a professional from the photographic industry.
Benefits
Mentorships: Up to 100 selected applicants will receive 1-2-1 mentorships with editors from top media agencies, including AFP, EPA, Getty Images, and Reuters.
Exclusive Workshop: The top 25 students will be invited to a 4-day workshop in Girona, Spain, offering a unique learning experience.
Visa pour l’Image: Following the workshop, students will attend Visa pour l’Image, the international festival of photojournalism in Perpignan, France.
Prestigious Prizes: Three students will be awarded a €2,000 grant and Canon equipment to produce a new project.

Selection Criteria:
- Participants are selected by a panel of Canon representatives and external industry professionals from top media agencies.
- Submissions will be assessed based on narrative skill, authenticity, storyline, bio, overall portfolio quality, and project proposal.
How to Apply:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old on 7th March 2024 and either a student, intern, or have completed their course in the 2023-24 academic year.
- Limited places are available for participants nominated by the industry, regardless of their education journey.
- Proficiency in English is required.
