The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships (GOI-IES) Program is offering scholarships to international students seeking to pursue a master’s or PhD’s studies in Ireland. The program is funded by the Government of Ireland in collaboration with Irish higher education institutions and managed by the Higher Education Authority. The initiative awards 60 scholarships annually for one year of full-time study at master’s or PhD level, covering various fields.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be living outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland/United Kingdom.
- Must apply for admission to a relevant master’s or PhD program at an eligible higher education institution.
- Must possess a conditional or final offer of admission to the institution at the time of application.
- The offer letter must confirm that the student has been offered a place on a full-time program as an international fee-paying student.
Note: Russian and Belarussian nationals are ineligible due to ongoing geopolitical circumstances.
Benefits
- A stipend of €10,000 for one year of full-time study at master’s or PhD level.
- Full fee waiver provided by the host higher education institution for the scholarship year.
- Successful scholars will be expected to commence their studies in either September or October 2024.
Assessment Process
Applicants are expected to demonstrate:
- A record of outstanding academic achievement;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Evidence of participation in extracurricular activities, for example humanitarian work, politics, arts or sport; and
- A strong rationale for pursuing their study in Ireland that indicates how a Government of International Education Scholarship will align with their longer-term goals.
Application Process
- Carefully read the call documentation to determine eligibility.
- Utilize the online portal for application submission.
- Upload two references via the online portal.
- Submit applications well in advance of the deadline to avoid technical issues due to server traffic.
- Applications cannot be modified once submitted.
