The Global Development Awards Competition (GDAC) is GDN’s flagship program, uniting a diverse community of researchers and development practitioners. It serves as a platform to:
- Identify and nurture talent, fostering the career progression of researchers in the Global South.
- Fund innovative social development initiatives implemented by NGOs, benefiting marginalized groups in developing regions.
Theme – 2024 Edition:
“Sustainable Climate Action for Human-Centered Development”
This year’s awards will encompass two categories:
- The Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (ORD) 2024 Edition: A competitive research grant program aimed at identifying and supporting exceptional research proposals. These projects should exhibit a high potential for research excellence and offer clear policy implications for addressing development challenges in low and middle-income countries, as per the World Bank’s definition.
- The Japanese Award for Most Innovative Development Project (MIDP) 2024 Edition: This competitive grant program backs non-profit Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in low or lower-middle-income countries, as defined by the World Bank. The focus is on recognizing the innovative approaches of their projects.
